The Pretend Team Skull Pikachu #013/SM-P is widely regarded as one of the ultimate Holy Grail cards for Pikachu collectors worldwide, and one of the most valuable Japanese promo cards of the entire Sun & Moon era. Released on December 17, 2016 exclusively through the Sun & Moon Special Box: Pretend Grunt Pikachu, this card depicts Pikachu dressed as a Team Skull Grunt in a full-art holofoil treatment that captures the irreverent, hip-hop-inspired swagger of the Alola region's notorious villains in a way that the community has celebrated for nearly a decade.
The box also included the companion card #014/SM-P, a deck box, card sleeves, and six booster packs, but the two promo cards are the reason collectors have been chasing this product ever since it sold out.

Why This Card?
This is not a card that trades at these prices because of hype. It trades at these prices because the supply is genuinely, permanently fixed. A single Japan-only product release in December 2016, never restocked, never reprinted, never released in English. Every Near Mint copy that exists today is one that has survived nearly a decade of handling, storage, and the passage of time. The BGS 9.5 ceiling of $5,405 on a card that started life as a box insert tells you everything you need to know about where demand sits relative to available supply.
For collectors looking to complete the pair, check availability of the companion Pretend Grunt Pikachu #014/SM-P in our singles catalogue. Track live market data via PriceCharting, Cardmarket, and TCGplayer, and browse the full singles catalogue at PokéMENA.
