The Firefighter Pikachu #209/SM-P is one of the most culturally rich and collectible Pikachu promos ever produced, released on March 14, 2018 exclusively through the Pokémon Center Tokyo DX Special Box to celebrate the grand opening of the Pokémon Center Tokyo DX and Pokémon Café.

The card depicts Pikachu dressed as a traditional Japanese firefighter, complete with a Hanten jacket and a fireman's standard, a deeply intentional cultural homage that blends Japanese heritage with the Pokémon franchise's most iconic character in a way that no other card in the SM-P promo series replicates. The companion card released in the same Special Box was the Hakama Pikachu #208/SM-P, and together the two cards form one of the most beloved matched promo pairs from the entire Pokémon Center Tokyo DX opening event.

There is no English version of this card. It has never been reprinted. It was distributed exclusively through a single Japan-only product celebrating the opening of one specific store on one specific date, and every copy in existence today is one that has survived since March 2018 without reprint or restock.

Why This Card?

The Pokémon Center Tokyo DX opening promos occupy a permanently fixed supply ceiling, and the Firefighter Pikachu is the more culturally specific of the two cards released that day, depicting a piece of Japanese heritage that resonates with international collectors precisely because of how uniquely Japanese it is. A BGS 10 Black Label ceiling of $4,515 on a card distributed as a box insert in 2018 places this firmly among the Sun & Moon era's most compelling long-term collector pieces, alongside the Pretend Team Skull Pikachu #013/SM-P and Hakama Pikachu #208/SM-P as the three flagship Japanese costume Pikachu promos of the era.
