Archeops Promo Card Revealed for Pokémon Fossil Museum Chicago

The Pokémon Fossil Museum has officially opened its doors at the Field Museum in Chicago, and alongside it comes a brand-new exclusive: an Archeops promo card being distributed to visitors at the event. The exhibition opened today, May 22, 2026, and will run through to April 11, 2027 marking the very first time this exhibition has ever left Japan.

What is the Pokémon Fossil Museum?

The Pokémon Fossil Museum is a collaborative exhibition created by the Field Museum, Japan's National Museum of Nature and Science, and The Pokémon Company International. It originally debuted in Japan in 2021 and has never previously toured outside the country making Chicago the first international destination for the show.

The exhibition brings together the worlds of Pokémon and real-world palaeontology, placing Fossil Pokémon side by side with genuine prehistoric fossils and scientific casts from the Field Museum's collection. Visitors can compare creatures like Tyrantrum and Archeops directly with exhibits including SUE the T. rex  one of the most complete T. rex specimens ever discovered and the Chicago Archaeopteryx.

The exhibition is a ticketed experience requiring a separate timed-entry ticket in addition to general museum admission. Demand for tickets was so high when they went on sale on March 3, 2026, that more than 23,000 people were simultaneously waiting in the virtual queue and overwhelmed the Field Museum's website.

The headline collector item tied to the exhibition is the exclusive Archeops promo card, which fits the event's theme perfectly Archeops is one of the Fossil Pokémon featured in the exhibition itself, displayed alongside the real prehistoric bird fossils that inspired its design.

The promo card is available as a gift with purchase in the exhibition's gift shop, similar to the model used for the Pikachu at the Museum jumbo promo distributed at the Pokémon x Natural History Museum pop-up in London earlier this year. It is not a free giveaway distributed to every visitor  collectors will need to make a purchase in the museum shop to receive it.

For collectors unable to attend the Chicago event in person, the secondary market will be the only route to obtaining this card once it begins circulating after the opening weekend.

Why This Promo Matters for Collectors

Museum-exclusive Pokémon TCG promos have a strong track record of becoming sought-after collector items over time. • No online availability confirmed unlike some museum collaborations, there is currently no indication the Archeops promo will be sold through Pokémon Center online
